Here’s another Howard Brother’s brand highlight! Today we have Ventrac. Ventrac takes pride in the safety and efficiency that it’s tractor provides. In the video below, you will hear Joan Miller’s testimony. Miller is an executive director for Holmes County Habitat for Humanity and she personally maintains 29 acres of land, she trusts Ventrac for the task. For her, this tractor saves her a lot of valuable time to spend how she likes on the weekends.
“Joan Miller was tired of spending her entire weekends trying to maintain nearly thirty acres of rough, hilly terrain and thick wooded areas. So she turned to The One Tractor Solution to help get the job done faster and easier than ever. Ventrac made it possible to reclaim her valuable weekend time.
Her husband was concerned for her safety and she never felt confident using the other mowers that just weren’t made for the job. With Ventrac, Joan can get all the mowing done in just one day with complete confidence in a machine that is built to handle those steep hills and her husband is happier too.
Joan uses the Tough Cut mower attachment to take down thick brush and multiflora roses, in excess of seven feet tall. She can now be done in a fraction of the time, when it used to take hours of operating a heavy, back-breaking weedeater that needed constant blade changes. But it’s not just mowing that is made easier with Ventrac. She can also clear all the fallen leaves far faster with the blower attachment than a cumbersome backpack blower and the power brush clears snow quickly and easily during the winter.
With Ventrac, Joan can enjoy spending her weekends with her family and its versatility to perform in any season allows her to do that all year long.”
Time’s are a changin’, these days you can grill a nice juicy steak from the comfort of your own couch. What a time to be alive am I right? What you have to realize though, is not all grills are the same and as technologically advanced. If you haven’t heard of Traeger Grills, they are already fantastic grills to own. They are so versatile you can grill, bake, braise, roast, smoke, or even BBQ using any of their products. They are also easy to use, just pop in some wood pellets, turn it on, set the timer and come back when it’s done. However, the newest Traeger series, Timberline, is the only one that includes the wireless feature —WiFire.
WiFire, what about it?
So just to give you an idea, here is why we love WiFire:
WiFire connects straight to the Treager App through your phone — designed IN-HOUSE and available for iOS and Android
Using Traeger app, you can control the temperature from 165 degrees F to 500 degrees F at 5-degree increments— ensures precise cooking!
The Timberline’s WiFIRE controller gives you the freedom to set and change timers so your food is cooked right
WiFire connects you with the Traeger community so you can learn new recipes and tips!
This is by far one of the most technologically advanced grills to date, and we’re sure Traeger will find ways to keep advancing. If you’re curious and would like to learn more, stop by any one of our five locations in Alpharetta, Athens, Doraville, Duluth, or Oakwood. We have a great relationship with our Traeger reps who are always giving demonstrations, and our staff is very knowledgable on Traeger products.
With the Fourth of July slowly creeping up behind us it’s only fitting that we create a post for you guys about Firework Safety. *cues fireworks* According to the National Fire Protection Association, fireworks start an average of 18,500 fires per year, including 1,300 structure fires, 300 vehicle fires, and 16,900 other fires. These fires caused an average of three deaths, 40 civilian injuries, and an average of $43 million in direct property damage. On top of that, U.S. hospital emergency rooms treated an estimated 11,900 people for fireworks related injuries; 51% of those injuries were to the extremities and 41% were to the head all in 2015 alone.
Simply stated, fireworks can cause a lot of harm if they are not used properly. This is why we have decided to throw this list of tips together! Check them out:
DON’T LET SMALL CHILDREN PLAY WITH FIREWORKS OR SPARKLERS. Sparklers burn at temperatures of about 2,000
Avoid buying fireworks that are packaged in brown paper because this is often a sign that the fireworks were made for professional displays and that they could pose a danger to consumers.
Never place any part of your body directly over a fireworks device when lighting the fuse. Keep a safe distance after lighting fireworks.
Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully.
Never point or throw fireworks at another person.
Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishap.
Light fireworks one at a time.
Never carry fireworks in a pocket or shoot them off in metal or glass containers.
After fireworks complete their burning, douse the spent device with plenty of water from a bucket or hose before discarding it to prevent a trash fire.
Make sure fireworks are legal in your area before buying or using them.
Obey all local laws regarding the use of fireworks.
Know your fireworks; read the cautionary labels and performance descriptions before igniting.
Alcohol and fireworks do not mix. Save your alcohol for after the show.
Wear safety glasses when shooting fireworks.
Light one firework at a time and then quickly move away.
Use fireworks OUTDOORS in a clear area; away from buildings and vehicles.
Never relight a “dud” firework. Wait 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water.
Always have a bucket of water and charged water hose nearby.
Do not experiment with homemade fireworks.
Report illegal explosives, like M-80s and quarter sticks, to the fire or police department.
These are just a few. Remember to be cautious and mindful of your actions. We want all of you to have a fun and safe Fourth of July!
If you keep up with us, you might know how we love to showcase two things: our products and brands as well as our friendly and knowledgable staff. We value our customers! We believe they deserve products that are the best and that will work. We wouldn’t sell something we don’t use ourselves! In fact, when it comes to new product selection, we often bring in items because one of our own team members have located something that we HAVE to make available to our customers.
Take a look at our newest video and you’ll see what we mean.
After watching the video, you can guess that Up-Star is a pretty strong pesticide and you’d be right. It’s a great product, Since we hardly had a winter this past year… summer came so quickly… not all of those pesky insects died. Needless to say, fleas, mosquitos and other nuisance bugs are going to make for a bug filled summer. Why work to make your yard look nice, to make your deck enjoyable and to have a grill to have friends and family over, if you can’t go outside and enjoy it all. Up-Star will save the day!
The decision to start selling Up-Star is a recent one. Our very own Paul Alexander, a hardware associate in our Oakwood location knows lawn chemicals. You see, Paul is an expert when it comes to agricultural topics. He used to be an County Agricultural Extension Agent for North Carolina and Georgia so we trust his judgment. Everyday Paul brings his knowledge to Howard Brothers and happily shares it with customers and other employees. He is a perfect example of the people we work with at Howard Brothers. Our staff members are both friendly and knowledgeable so we can answer any questions you may have.
Right now, we’re carrying Up Star Gold at our 3 hardware locations in Doraville, Duluth and Oakwood. Let us know if you have any questions.
Our Smoke and Tell at Oakwood on June 10th was so successful, we decided we needed to repeat it on July 1st at our Duluth Store. But we’re going to turn up the heat and add a little more smoke to our menu! vYou’ve seen and heard all about Traeger Grills. Now it’s time to get some food in your belly and get some of those questions answered. You’ll get a full understanding of the versatility and ease that Traeger’s offer.
Traeger representatives will be on hand and you can ask any question about how they work and what we did to prepare the food.
