Fire Prevention Day at Duluth Hardware Store

This month is Fire Prevention Month and specifically next week, October 7 through 13th is Fire Prevention Week. We decided that we’d team up with Kidde, one of the most recognized names in fire safety products to help get the word out. We can all use a little more education when it comes to fire safety.

The reality is that when fire strikes, your home could be engulfed in smoke and flames in just a few minutes.

It is important to have a home fire escape plan that prepares your family to think fast and get out quickly when the smoke alarm sounds. What if your first escape route is blocked by smoke or flames? That’s why having two ways out is such a key part of your plan. This year’s theme,“Have 2 Ways Out!”, focuses on the importance of fire escape planning and practice. My family had a good conversation the other evening around the dinner table about smoke detectors, exit strategy and general what to do if…

This Saturday, October 6, we will have representatives from Kidde, the world’s largest manufacturer of fire safety products, on hand to answer questions, give out information and educate about the solutions that protect people and property from the effects of fire and its related hazards. The technology in Kidde’s smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers and other life safety products have become very impressive and chances are you may be relying on old technology to keep your family safe.

Think about it, we probably change our cell phones 5-10 times more often than we change out our smoke detectors!

We will also have some Gwinnett County Fire Fighters on hand at noon who can help answer questions and inform your family about what to do in the case of a fire.

Stop by our store between 10-2. Bring your smoke detector and/or fire extinguisher to have it inspected. Grab a hotdog off the grill and get informed about best practices for what to do in a fire.
