Great Educational Video from STA-BIL about Ethanol and Fuel

If you follow us either here on our blog, on facebook, twitter, our newsletter or YouTube, you may be rolling your eyes, but here’s another great resource for you to use in your circle of influence about the dangers of ethanol in your fuels.

Bobby Cleveland, Gold Eagle’s Engine Answerman, and Gold Eagle’s Tom Bingham discuss how ethanol blended fuels affect a small engine. Difficulties discussed are phase separation, corrosion and fuel breaking down to gum & varnish. To help prevent these problems, Gold Eagle developed STA-BIL Ethanol Treatment which contains a water remover, corrosion inhibitor, fuel stabilizer and a synthetic cleaner.

The key takeaway that we want our customer to know is you CAN NOT treat fuels today like you did 20, 10, even 5 years ago. Your gasoline will begin to breakdown in 30 days or less. You have to develop a healthy fuel hygiene so that your small engines are protected from corrosion, gum and varnish that will happen if you have bad fuel. Fuel treatment and stabilizers, like STA-BIL, will increase the shelf life of your fuel, but it will not be the magic potion that makes bad fuel good.
