STIHL – American Made

Next time you’re driving around the perimeter or headed through the toll plaza on 400, take a look over in the landscaping truck next to you. You see that orange color string trimmer and edger? See the Back Pack blowers ready for use? Chances are high that that commercial landscaping crew is powered by STIHL.

Did you also know that Howard Brothers is the largest STIHL dealer in the United States. So chances are that Atlanta based commercial landscaping crew is powered by Howard Brothers as well. Our three locations in Doraville, Duluth and Oakwood serve a lot larger area than just Gwinnett and Hall County. We have customers all over Metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

Did you know that the majority of STIHL products are made right here in America?

Family ownership and only selling through independent servicing dealers has helped make STIHL the #1 selling brand of gasoline-powered handheld outdoor power equipment in America*.

  1. Might want to make a change on your page here, stihl also has a factory in china that opened in 2006 and exports chain saws, hedge trimmers and such to north america.

    1. Yes, but the majority of the their tools are made in Virginia Beach. They just expanded and still support American jobs much more than some other manufacturers. Thanks for the comment though.

  2. I just bought the Stihl cordless mower because it has a great reputation, as do all Stihl products. I notice some of its accessories are made in Germany and Slovakia. That is fine but is the mower still made in the U.S.?

    1. Hi Dennis

You’ll love that mower. Like our article states: “A majority of STIHL products are made in the United States from domestic and foreign parts and components. “Number one selling brand” is based on syndicated Irwin Broh Research (commercial landscapers) as well as independent consumer research of 2009-2011 U.S. sales and market share data for the gasoline-powered handheld outdoor power equipment category combined sales to consumers and commercial landscapers. © 2012 STIHL Inc.”

STIHL actually has a great amount of content on their own site that talks about being “Built in America” http://www.stihlusa.com/built-in-america/

Their factory in Virginia Beach is amazing. No one can go through that place on a tour and not come out of it feeling proud and patriotic at what STIHL has achieved. They are being looked at by other manufacturers in America to see how it is that they do what they do.

I’m not certain about the mower. I’ll try to look into it for you, though.
